This is the start of a new year and the start of all the wonderful fashion and accessories we have yet to witness.

Costume jewelry (also known as fashion jewelry) has been created to make jewellery more affordable in our ever changing lifestyles.  Everyday jewelery include items such as necklace sets with matching earrings, bangles, bracelets and rings.  Hair accessory (hair clips and hair bands) are making a comeback this year.

Issue 28 also includes extensive highlights from the Asian Bride Show 2009.  All the fashion models on the catwalk were wearing our Indian costume jewellery.  Please refer to our recent post regarding the jewelry displayed on the bride show.

You will also notice that new logos have been created for Asian Glitz and Asian Designs, we hope you like them as much as we do.  We went through various designs and it was hard to find something that suited both our sites.

Finally, once this month is over, we would have been trading for 5 years and we’d like to thank all our visitors, customers and supporters for helping us grow year in year out.  As a company we continue to grow and next year will be no different.  We expect to grow rapidly next year thanks to increased exposure in many areas and an ever growing number of referrals by satisfied customers.

Practically all of our jewellery at Asian Glitz and Asian Designs has been handmade from India, making all our items personal and unique.

Indian fashion jewellery comes in a variety of finishes such as gold  tone, silver tone, mehendi rose tone etc.  These finishes are coatings on top of a base metal and if not taken care they can result in your jewelery looking tired.

Like most costume jewellery & Indian fashion jewelry, they need a little more care since they are adorned with gems and beads.  Good care is essential to maintain the condition of your bollywood costume jewelry for many years to come.

The following tips will help you to keep your jewellery looking its best:

• Store all items in a cool and dry place, and store separately in order to avoid scratching and damage.
• Avoid contact with chemicals such as perfume, deodorant etc.
• Do not use abrasive jewellery cleaners.
• Clean your jewellery with a soft cloth and mild detergent with water if required, rinse with clean water and dry with a soft cloth.
• Dry your jewellery with a soft cloth if it gets wet.
• Jewellery should be put on last and taken off first while dressing.
• Never wear your fashion jewellery whilst asleep in bed.

Indian / bollywood bangles come in various sizes to ensure a perfect fit.  Bangles are measured across the diameter to find the correct size.

To find out what bangle size you are, just measure across a bangle that currently fits you well.  Bangles should be worn tighter then you would wear a bracelet, this will stop them from slipping off your wrists.
