We all know less is more when it comes to fashion as seen with celebrities on the red carpet. If you are like me and attending an elaborate party, we might just splash out on a stunning outfit. The dress is probably a little too expensive but then this does not happen too often. But how do we accessorise?…

This is where the ‘less is more’ comes into play by not going overboard with the accessories. Silver based jewelry seems to be the colour to wear whether it is a single chunky bangle on one arm or just a dazzling pair of chandelier earrings. If a necklace is needed (without earrings) then teaming it up with a fabulous cocktail ring will do wonders.

Indian costume jewellery care tips

Practically all of our jewellery at Asian Glitz and Asian Designs has been handmade from India, making all our items personal and unique.

Indian fashion jewellery comes in a variety of finishes such as gold tone, silver tone, mehendi rose tone etc. These finishes are coatings on top of a base metal and if not taken care they can result in your jewelery looking tired.

Like most costume jewellery & Indian fashion jewelry, they need a little more care since they are adorned with gems and beads. Good care is essential to maintain the condition of your bollywood costume jewelry for many years to come.

The following tips will help you to keep your jewellery looking its best:

Store all items in a cool and dry place, and store separately in order to avoid scratching and damage.
Avoid contact with chemicals such as perfume, deodorant etc.
Do not use abrasive jewellery cleaners.
Clean your jewellery with a soft cloth and mild detergent with water if required, rinse with clean water and dry with a soft cloth.
Dry your jewellery with a soft cloth if it gets wet.
Jewellery should be put on last and taken off first while dressing.
Never wear your fashion jewellery whilst asleep in bed.

Indian bangle sizing

Indian / bollywood bangles come in various sizes to ensure a perfect fit. Bangles are measured across the diameter to find the correct size.

To find out what bangle size you are, just measure across a bangle that currently fits you well. Bangles should be worn tighter then you would wear a bracelet, this will stop them from slipping off your wrists.

Catwalk Jewellery used in Asian Bride Show 2009

We were lucky enough to attend this year’s Asian Bride Show held at Wembley Stadium in London, which was one of the biggest Asian Wedding Exhibition.

It was a spectacular event for brides-to-be, grooms, family and friends to visit. Glamorous and sophisticated presentations from exhibitors were at hand to assist you for your wedding day and free catwalks were held throughout the weekend with live celebrity performances and entertainment.

Exhibitor’s stands ranged from beauty and hair, caterers, cakes, fashion jewelry, flowers, honeymoon, photography, mandaps, transport, video, wedding venues and more.

Curry Special and The Lakhani Group provided floor sponsorship and live entertainment. Fashion for the catwalk were provided by Zaryan, Fabric Centre, Huseena Haute Couture, Krishna Sarees, Anisa Shoes and Asian Glitz Jewellery. G-Spot Cosmetics and Asif Yvette Hair added the defining touches to the glamorous catwalk models.

Live TV broadcast and interviews was covered by Prime TV with performances from Shekie n Sham, Metz and Trix, Veronica, Mumzy and others. Additional media coverage came from B4U, Wedding TV, Geo TV, Star News UK, Asian Voice, BBC Radio, Desi Mag, UK Asia Times and Asian Woman magazine.

Overall we had a fantastic time and were really delighted that Asian Woman magazine contacted us to be the sole provider for all jewellery featured on the catwalk. Stunning images of our jewellery on the Asian Bride Show can be found in the Asian Bride Magazine Issue number 28 which is out now!
